Certification
EN 388:2016 (2121A) rates protection against mechanical risks. Each character represents a separate test:
- Abrasion resistance (2): Withstands 500 to fewer than 2,000 abrasion cycles on a scale of 1 to 4.
- Blade cut resistance (1): Achieves level 1 on a scale of 1 to 5 in the blade cut test.
- Tear resistance (2): Withstands a tearing force of at least 25 newtons on a scale of 1 to 4.
- Puncture resistance (1): Withstands a puncture force of at least 20 newtons on a scale of 1 to 4.
- ISO 13997 cut resistance (A): Achieves level A, the first of six cut-resistance levels from A to F.
EN ISO 21420:2020 is the general standard for protective gloves, covering requirements such as glove design, comfort, harmlessness and product information; it does not assign a mechanical-protection rating.
